Daily use can damage jewelry in many ways. We want to share with you some of our recommendations so that the shine and beauty of your jewelry will last much longer.
Simple ways to take care of your pieces:
- Avoid getting your jewelry unnecessarily wet. Remove them before taking a bath or swimming, contact with chlorine, sand or salt water can damage the pieces.
- Exposure to chemicals such as deodorants, perfumes or cosmetic sprays can wear away the color and shine of the pieces.
- Remove your jewelry before any physical activity, as excess perspiration can damage them.
- Keep your jewelry clean and dry. Cleaning your jewelry is important to restore shine and remove any accumulated oil or dirt.
- When you are not wearing them, store them carefully to avoid damage or discoloration.
- Avoid storing them in extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Store your jewelry in a clean, cool, dry place.
- Avoid leaving your jewelry on chemically treated surfaces or wood, as they may stain or accelerate the oxidation process.
Recommendations:
In addition to daily care, a little maintenance is necessary from time to time to keep them looking like new.
- Use dishwashing soap and warm water.
For pieces that are losing their shine, with stains or that are beginning to discolor, mix a few drops of mild dishwashing soap with warm water and rub the jewelry with a soft cloth. Rinse them with cold water and dry them with a cloth, preferably a microfiber cloth.
- Avoid home "remedies
Do not use products such as toothpaste to clean and polish your jewelry, this home remedy is too abrasive and will damage your jewelry in the long run.
- Use a special silver polishing cloth.
If your silver jewelry darkens over time we recommend cleaning it with a special silver polishing cloth, it is a sure way to bring back the shine and deep clean it. However, this technique will not remove scratches or dents.
- Keep your jewelry in the proper packaging
Store jewelry away from sunlight or heat, preferably in a padded jewelry box. We also recommend that you keep your pieces in the original Brikka bags, as their airtight design seals perfectly so that they do not allow air or liquid to pass through, keeping your jewelry away from dust and dirt.
Important note:
We cannot guarantee that the gold plating on our products will last forever. Gold plated items are inherently more fragile and prone to discoloration. The reasons why this discoloration is more rapid will depend on various reasons, such as chemical use on the skin, sweat, or even the skin's PH level. This is why it is even more important to make sure that your gold plated jewelry is well cared for.
